New Delhi — Four schools across the national capital were evacuated on Friday morning after receiving bomb threat emails, triggering panic among students and parents. Within hours, the Delhi Police and Fire Services declared the alerts to be **hoaxes**, but the incident has renewed debate on cyber-security and emergency preparedness in educational institutions.

According to officials, the emails were sent around 9:30 a.m. to schools in South Delhi and Dwarka. Standard operating procedures were immediately activated—students were moved to safe zones, traffic was diverted, and bomb-disposal and dog squads combed the premises. After extensive checks, no suspicious objects were found. Classes were suspended for the day while cyber-forensics teams began tracing the sender’s IP trail.

“Our priority was student safety. The evacuation was orderly and the threat turned out baseless, but we’re treating the investigation seriously,”

said DCP (New Delhi District) Rakesh Kumar.

Parents appreciated the quick response but demanded faster official communication during the initial hour of confusion. Education department officials said schools will hold **refresher emergency drills** and verify contact databases for faster parent alerts. Authorities urged citizens to refrain from spreading unverified rumours that can amplify panic.

Cyber-crime units are coordinating with email service providers to identify the origin of the messages, believed to have been routed through multiple proxy servers. Legal experts reminded that even false bomb threats invite punishment under the IPC Section 505(1)(b) and the Explosive Substances Act.

Meanwhile, principals’ associations plan to meet next week to standardize campus-security protocols across Delhi schools—including controlled entry points, CCTV redundancy checks, and direct police hotlines for threat escalation.

While Friday’s episode ended without harm, officials warn that vigilance fatigue is dangerous. “Every drill that saves even one life is worth the disruption,” a senior officer said.
