The court ordered a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh to be furnished. The defence has been instructed to file the bail bond before the duty judge on Friday.

Vacation Judge Nyay Bindu of Rouse Avenue Courts passed the order after reserving it earlier today, as reported by Live Law.

AAP Legal Team’s Statement

Advocate Rishikesh Kumar of Aam Aadmi Party’s legal team stated, “Today, in the excise policy scam, Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by the Rouse Avenue court. He was granted bail on a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh. By tomorrow afternoon, Arvind Kejriwal will come out of jail. This is a big win for AAP leaders, the country, and the people.”

Timeline for Kejriwal’s Release

Arvind Kejriwal is expected to walk out of Tihar Jail by 8:00 PM on June 21. The release order will be sent to the jail authorities by 4 PM on Friday through the court runner. The jail authorities will then begin the procedure to create the release memo, which could take a few hours.

Enforcement Directorate Seeks Stay on Bail Order

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sought a stay on the bail order and requested the court to provide 48 hours to sign the bail bond so that the order could be challenged in a higher court. However, the judge ruled that there would be no stay on the order. The ED plans to move to the Delhi High Court on Friday morning to request a stay on the bail order.

Court Extension of Jail Stay

A Delhi court had extended Kejriwal’s jail stay till July 3. This extension was overturned with the new bail order, bringing relief to the AAP leader and his supporters.

AAP’s Reaction to Kejriwal’s Bail

The Aam Aadmi Party celebrated the court’s decision, with the official X handle of the party posting, “Truth can be troubled, but not defeated. Rejecting all objections of BJP’s ED, the Hon’ble Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister @ArvindKejriwal ji.”

Party workers celebrated by bursting firecrackers outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi, marking the moment as a significant victory for the party and its leader.
