Gurgaon — The Gurgaon Police arrested two men after a shocking video showed one of them hanging from a moving SUV and urinating on a busy road. The incident, which took place late Friday night on Old Railway Road, sparked outrage online and raised questions about reckless driving and public decency in the city.
According to officials, the duo—identified as Anuj (driver) and Mohit (passenger)—were captured on camera in a black Mahindra Thar while performing the indecent act. The video quickly went viral on social media platforms, prompting immediate police action. The SUV has been seized, and both men have been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to public obscenity and endangering life by rash driving.
“Such behaviour is unacceptable. Strict action will follow against anyone endangering public safety or violating decency in public places,”
said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajesh Kumar.
Residents of Old Railway Road expressed anger, citing the growing menace of stunt driving and public indecency in congested areas. Many locals demanded stronger weekend policing and deployment of more traffic personnel in inner-city stretches, not just highways.
The Gurgaon Police have urged citizens to report similar incidents through the helpline or official X (Twitter) handle. Officials have assured that whistle-blowers’ identities will remain confidential to encourage prompt reporting of such offences.
Road-safety experts and civic groups have called for stricter night patrols and AI-based camera monitoring to deter reckless behaviour. “Public roads are not playgrounds,” said social activist Preeti Sharma. “It’s time we treat such acts not as jokes but as serious threats to civic order.”
The accused remain in custody and are expected to be produced before a magistrate later today. The police also confirmed that the viral clip will be used as key evidence in the case.
This is not the first viral offence involving Gurgaon roads. Officials say public awareness, deterrence, and swift prosecution must go hand-in-hand to keep the city safe.
