Gurgaon – A tragic accident occurred late Wednesday night when a van collided with a truck at the Sector 83 crossing, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to four others. The incident took place around 1 AM, when the van, reportedly speeding, appeared from the right and collided with the truck, causing it to crash into an iron pillar by the roadside.
Accident Details
Truck driver Rakesh Kumar, who was returning to Jhajjar after delivering goods in Sector 62, recounted the events in his police complaint. To avoid a collision, Kumar swerved the truck to the left, but the van grazed the right side of his vehicle and crashed into a pillar, leaving its occupants severely injured.
A police team led by ASI Ashok quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the five individuals trapped in the mangled van. The injured were immediately rushed to Aarvy Hospital in Sector 90. Kumar, initially treated at Aarvy Hospital, was later transferred to PGI Rohtak by his family for further medical care.
Casualties and Injuries
An unidentified woman in the van succumbed to her injuries. The other injured occupants, Sobhit, Rajesh, Rakesh Kumar, and Saurabh, are receiving medical treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, Saurabh was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.
Legal Action and Investigation
A case has been registered at Kherki Daula police station under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life), 304A (death by negligence), and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, according to police officials.
