Jodhpur, Rajasthan, August 11, 2024:
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, strongly responded to those suggesting that India could face a situation similar to the recent unrest in Bangladesh. In a pointed statement, Shekhawat emphasized that India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is vastly different from Bangladesh and that such scenarios should not even be imagined.

Shekhawat, who hails from Rajasthan, made these remarks while speaking to the media at the Jodhpur airport on Saturday. Addressing concerns about the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, the Union Minister stated, “What happened in Bangladesh was both unexpected and unacceptable, but the Indian government is closely monitoring the situation. We hope for the restoration of law and order, and the re-establishment of government authority there. The entire world is watching this very seriously.”

Shekhawat expressed disappointment over comments suggesting that India could experience similar unrest, stating, “It is unfortunate that some people have made such comments, talking about replicating the Bangladesh template in India. They perhaps do not realize that this is not Bangladesh; this is India, and this is Modi ji’s India. Those who even dream of such a scenario should understand what will happen to them.”

When asked about the recent behavior of Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan in the Rajya Sabha and her comments towards the Chairman, Shekhawat termed the incident as unfortunate. He remarked, “There should be the highest respect for the Chair. No one, while conducting themselves in the House, should act or speak in a way that causes offense to others.”

Shekhawat’s statements reflect the firm stance of the Indian government against any attempts to destabilize the country and underscore the significant differences between the political situations in India and Bangladesh.
