Pune, India – In a tragic incident that has shocked the academic community, a first-year MBBS student of Krishna Medical College in Karad, Satara district, died after being allegedly pushed off a building by her classmate. The incident occurred on Wednesday night, and police officials have identified the victim as Aarushi Mishra and the accused as Dhruv Rajesh Kumar Chikkar, 29, from Haryana.
Satara Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh confirmed the arrest of Dhruv on charges of murder. He stated, “Dhruv has been arrested on charges of murder. He was injured and is under medical treatment. He pushed her from the building as he suspected her character. A case of murder has been lodged.”
Both Aarushi and Dhruv were students at Krishna Medical College and had known each other for several years, having previously studied together in Delhi. Aarushi hailed from Muzaffarnagar in Bihar, while Dhruv was from Sonipat in Haryana. According to Aarushi’s mother, who spoke with the police, Dhruv had always been suspicious of Aarushi when she interacted with other males and had physically assaulted her multiple times in the past.
The fatal incident unfolded on Wednesday night when Dhruv and Aarushi had a heated argument. Dhruv confronted Aarushi about an alleged affair with another man, and in a fit of rage, he allegedly pushed her from the third floor of the building where they stayed. Aarushi’s mother revealed that the relationship had been strained due to Dhruv’s constant suspicions and aggressive behavior.
The police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, and Dhruv is currently under medical treatment for injuries sustained during the altercation. The college community is in mourning, and counseling services have been made available to students affected by the tragedy.
