Disciplinary Action for Teachers and Staff Not Recording Digital Attendance from July 11

Starting July 11, teachers and staff who fail to record their digital attendance will face departmental disciplinary actions. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Unnao has issued directives stating that non-compliance with digital attendance will be considered a violation of departmental orders. Amidst ongoing protests by teachers against digital attendance in council schools, districts have started enforcing strict measures.

In Barabanki and Unnao, directives have been issued to withhold the salaries of teachers who do not record their attendance for three consecutive days. Despite these warnings, teachers across the state continued their protests for the third day and refused to register their digital attendance.

Salary Withheld for Non-Compliance

The BSA of Barabanki has emphasized that from July 11 onwards, teachers and staff who do not register their digital attendance will face disciplinary actions. Similarly, the BSA of Unnao had previously instructed that failure to record digital attendance would result in salary and honorarium suspension until further notice.

The BSA of Lucknow has also directed Block Education Officers to regularly inspect at least five schools daily and ensure the digitization of attendance registers. Teachers who show disinterest in this process are to be reported.

Ongoing Protests by Teachers

Despite the implementation of digital attendance, teachers’ protests continued for the third day, and many did not register their attendance. The teachers have formed a joint struggle front and decided to hold demonstrations and submit memorandums in every district on July 15.

In Bareilly, after a two-day holiday, schools reopened on Wednesday. Many schools still faced waterlogging issues, causing difficulties for teachers. Led by the United Teachers Association (UTA), representatives of all organizations and teachers submitted memorandums addressed to the Chief Minister in all blocks.

Dr. Dinesh Chandra Sharma, President of the Uttar Pradesh Primary Teachers Association, stated that the organization would discuss the issue with teachers at the block level on July 11-12 to understand their stance before making further decisions on July 15. The joint struggle front of all teacher organizations has also decided to gather after school hours on July 15, march to district headquarters, and submit memorandums to the Chief Minister through the District Magistrate. Additionally, a demonstration at the Directorate General Office in Nishatganj, Lucknow, is planned for July 29.

Review via Video Conferencing

Additional Project Director Rajendra Prasad has informed all Divisional Assistant Education Directors and BSAs through a letter that a review of teachers’ and students’ attendance via video conferencing will be held on July 11 at 1 PM. This review will include all Block Education Officers and District Coordinators of Training.
