Sonipat – In a significant joint operation, the Haryana State Task Force (STF) and Delhi Police Crime Branch successfully neutralized three notorious gangsters of the Bhau Gang. The encounter occurred on Friday night on the Chinnoli Road near Sonipat, resulting in the deaths of Ashish Kalu, Vicky Ridhana, and Sunny Gujjar.
Details of the Encounter
The operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs that the three gangsters, linked to the Bhau Gang, were traveling on Chinnoli Road. The Delhi Police Crime Branch was pursuing the suspects when they requested assistance from the Haryana STF. The STF set up a checkpoint on Chinnoli Road to intercept the gangsters.
As the gangsters approached the checkpoint in a white car, they attempted to evade the police and opened fire, discharging between 25 to 30 rounds. In the ensuing exchange, the police returned fire, critically wounding the suspects. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, all three gangsters were declared dead upon arrival.
Criminal Background and Involvement in Delhi Shooting
Ashish Kalu, Vicky Ridhana, and Sunny Gujjar were identified as close associates of wanted gangster Himanshu Bhau, who is currently in hiding in Portugal. The gangsters were involved in the infamous Burger King shooting in Delhi, where 40 rounds were fired, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old man named Aman Joon. This act of violence was claimed by Himanshu Bhau as revenge for the murder of his close associate, Shakti Dada.
The encounter also brought to light their involvement in several other criminal activities, including extortion and multiple counts of armed robbery across Haryana and Delhi. Interpol has issued a red-corner notice against Himanshu Bhau for his extensive criminal activities.
Police Statements and Community Reaction
DCP Crime Branch NDR Delhi Amit Goyal confirmed the successful operation and noted that the joint effort between the Haryana STF and Delhi Police Crime Branch was crucial in apprehending these dangerous criminals. The operation was not without risk, as one police officer sustained injuries during the shootout.
Local residents and officials have expressed relief over the elimination of these gangsters, who had instilled fear and disrupted peace in several communities. The police have also recovered five modern pistols and 19 live cartridges from the suspects.
Ongoing Investigation
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the gang’s activities and their network. Preliminary findings indicate that Ashish Kalu had over 20 criminal cases against him, while Sunny and Vicky had 15 and seven cases respectively. Each gangster had a bounty of two lakh rupees on their head.
The successful encounter underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
