Samyukt Kisan Morcha to Plan Massive Protest in Bhiwani Against Alleged Land Seizure in Ghamroj Village

GURGAON: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a coalition of farmer unions, has announced a crucial meeting in Bhiwani on Tuesday to strategize against what they describe as an illegal attempt by a developer to seize a farmer’s land in Ghamroj village, Gurgaon. The farmer leaders, incensed by the alleged government and police actions that they perceive as oppressive, have threatened to escalate their protest if their demands are not met.

On Sunday, state president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait), Ratan Mann, stated that the government has failed to protect farmers’ rights and continues to act against them. “Police, under pressure from the builder, are still conducting raids to arrest the farmer. Even his children, women of the family, and relatives are being subjected to torture,” said Mann.

The SKM is planning to block toll booths and roads as part of their protest, and if their demands remain unmet, they intend to launch a ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ (fill the jails movement). The protest action is intended as a strong response to what they describe as “oppression” by the authorities.

Earlier this week, members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union protested at the Sohna toll plaza and handed over a memorandum of demands to Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sonu Bhatt. The farmer leaders are now waiting for the outcome of their meeting before deciding the next course of action.
