Public Works Department Demolishes House of Main Accused in Ballia Murder Case

Ballia – In a dramatic turn of events, the public works department, with the support of heavy police presence, demolished the house of Rohit Yadav, the main accused in the Rohit Kumar Pandey murder case. Yadav had recently surrendered in court, police confirmed.

Arrests and Rewards

Two other accused, Ankit Yadav and Prakash Yadav, were arrested on Tuesday. A reward of ₹25,000 had been announced for their capture. According to police, Rohit Kumar Pandey, a resident of Daraon village, was murdered near Bansdih police station in Ballia on Saturday. Prior scuffles between Pandey and the accused had been reported, leading to the registration of a case against six individuals under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, following a complaint from Pandey’s kin.

Law Enforcement Actions

Rohit Yadav and Shekhar Yadav recently surrendered before a court. Police have constituted teams to arrest two more accused, Jawahar Gond and Baghi Yadav, who remain at large. A senior police officer disclosed that two constables were suspended for showing favoritism towards the accused. An additional superintendent of police (North) has been tasked with conducting a departmental inquiry to investigate negligence at the police level and reasons for not taking timely preventive action in this incident. Authorities are considering invoking the Gangsters’ Act and National Security Act against the accused.

Demolition and Government Response

A team of officials, led by Bansdih Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Priyadarshi and Circle Officer Prabhat Kumar, accompanied by a heavy police force, reached Rohit Yadav’s house and proceeded with its demolition. This action followed a directive from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who reportedly instructed the police to ensure strict action against the accused.
