Gurugram, India – As the Haryana assembly elections draw near, political aspirants across the Badshahpur and Gurugram constituencies have ramped up their campaigns in a bid to secure votes. With the elections scheduled for October 1, 2024, candidates from various parties and independent leaders are making their final push to win the trust of the electorate.

On Sunday, Kumudini Rakesh Daultabad, an independent candidate and the widow of the late Badshahpur MLA Rakesh Daultabad, held a well-attended public meeting at Anaj Mandi in Farrukhnagar. She laid claim to the Badshahpur seat, emphasizing the development work initiated by her late husband during his tenure as MLA. Rakesh Daultabad had won the 2019 election by defeating BJP’s Manish Yadav by a margin of around 10,000 votes. Addressing the crowd, Kumudini Daultabad declared, “The upcoming election is not just my own but also that of the common people.” She urged the public to support her, promising to continue her husband’s legacy of development without discrimination.

In contrast, BJP leader and three-time councillor Subash Singhla held a meeting with women voters in Housing Board Colony’s Ward 18, where he highlighted the BJP’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Singhla expressed his desire to serve the entire Gurugram constituency, stating that if given the party mandate, he would work for comprehensive development.

Congress hopeful Mohit Grover, who garnered around 50,000 votes as an independent candidate in the 2019 Gurugram assembly election, visited Wazirabad village to address grievances about the lack of basic infrastructure. Grover assured villagers that their issues would be resolved once Congress came to power, urging them to support the party in the upcoming elections.

BJP aspirant Naveen Goyal also held a large public meeting at Lakshmi Garden on Khandsa Road, where he outlined his plans for Gurugram’s comprehensive development. Similarly, BJP district president Kamal Yadav emphasized his role as a link between the party and the government, highlighting his efforts to resolve grievances and take the BJP’s message to the masses.

Amid these intense campaigns, the Haryana unit of the BJP sent a communication to the Election Commission on August 22, requesting the postponement of the upcoming assembly elections, citing concerns over low voter turnout due to an extended holiday period. Haryana’s chief electoral officer, Pankaj Agarwal, confirmed that the commission received the communication and forwarded it to the Election Commission for consideration.

As the election date approaches, the political landscape in Badshahpur and Gurugram remains charged, with candidates vying to secure their place in the Haryana state assembly.
