Moradabad Woman Seeks Justice After Alleging Rape and Fraud by Youth Promising Marriage

Moradabad, July 9, 2024 — A woman from Moradabad has accused a youth of raping her under the pretext of marriage and swindling approximately 15 lakhs in cash and jewelry. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has assured an investigation and appropriate action.

The Complaint

The woman, a resident of Katghar police station area, submitted an application to the SSP’s office, detailing her ordeal. She alleged that the youth deceived her with promises of marriage, taking nearly five lakhs in cash and ten lakhs worth of jewelry.

Background of the Case

According to the victim, her husband has a criminal background and frequently abuses her. One day, a neighbor suggested that she leave her husband and marry his nephew instead. The neighbor arranged a meeting with the nephew, who then started conversing with her and promised to marry her.

The accused initially took 1.5 lakhs from the woman, claiming it was for his sick mother’s treatment. He then took her to Shimla for a trip, where he allegedly raped her. After returning from Shimla, the youth convinced her to bring cash and jewelry from her home, promising they would build a house and live together.

The Fraud

Following his instructions, the woman brought 4.1 lakhs in cash and jewelry. The accused handed over the cash and jewelry to his mother. Later, the accused and his family sent the woman to Gurugram, claiming her life was in danger. A month later, when she returned home, she found that a house had been built with her money.

When the woman asked about marriage, the accused refused and pressured her to transfer her house to his name first. Feeling betrayed, the woman approached the SSP for justice.

Police Action

SSP Satpal Antil has directed the Katghar police station in-charge to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action. The case is currently under investigation, and further steps will be taken based on the findings.
