Gurugram, Haryana (Sarhind Times) – August 6, 2024
In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor smuggling, the Manesar Crime Branch has seized 295 cases of illicit liquor being transported from Punjab to Bihar via Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested the truck driver and two accomplices involved in the smuggling operation. Efforts are underway to trace the entire supply chain and apprehend other suspects.
ASI Sombir from the Crime Branch reported receiving a tip-off about a truck loaded with illegal liquor on the KMP (Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) Expressway. Acting on this information, a team intercepted a truck near Vaishno Dhaba at Pachgaon Chowk. Upon inspection, the police discovered 295 cases of English liquor concealed beneath boxes of Bajaj fans.
The truck driver, identified as Sudesh from Uttar Pradesh, confessed that he was transporting the liquor to Patna. He initially misled the police by claiming that his truck was carrying Bajaj fans. However, a thorough search revealed the hidden stash of illegal liquor. Sudesh also disclosed that the truck owners, Sonu and Anil, were traveling in a separate car accompanying the truck. Both Sonu and Anil have been arrested by the police.
The police investigation revealed that the suspects had falsified the truck’s documentation, listing Bajaj fans to evade detection. Samples of the seized liquor have been sent for further analysis. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and initiated an in-depth investigation to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network.
This operation underscores the Manesar Crime Branch’s commitment to combating illegal activities and ensuring public safety. The authorities have reiterated their resolve to take stringent action against those involved in such unlawful practices.
