Gurugram: In a significant move aimed at enhancing the safety of residents, the Gurugram administration has decided to remove the 11 kV high-tension wires passing over and around 34 residential colonies in the city. This decision comes as a major relief for the people living in these areas, who have long been concerned about the potential hazards posed by these power lines.

According to officials from Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), this critical work will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, which has already commenced, high-tension wires are being removed from 16 colonies, with a target to complete this phase by December 2024. The second phase will begin after the election code of conduct is lifted, focusing on the remaining 18 colonies.

Details of the Operation

The removal of these high-tension wires is a comprehensive operation that will cover several key areas. According to the DHBVN report, this work will be undertaken at crucial points such as 750 meters near the government lake in Khori Khurd, 700 meters in Jaurasi village, 700 meters in Sarai village, and 500 meters in Mohdpur. In addition, similar efforts will be carried out in Radhe Nagar, Pathredi feeder, Dhulawat feeder, and Tadun feeder areas.

Second Phase to Begin After Election Code of Conduct is Lifted

The second phase of this project will commence once the election code of conduct is lifted. This phase will cover areas such as Shekhpur, Jalalpur feeder, Rathiwas feeder, Fatehpur, and Jhamuwas. Additionally, several locations in Sohna town will also see the decommissioning of high-tension cables as part of this initiative.

DHBVN Managing Director P.C. Meena has announced the formation of a special safety cell that will oversee this entire process. The cell will operate from the DHBVN office on Mehrauli Road and will ensure that the work is carried out smoothly and safely.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the risk of accidents and improve the overall safety of residents in these areas.
