In a significant move aimed at providing relief to retired employees, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has announced the launch of a cashless medical facility for over 20,000 retired employees of the Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB). Power Minister Atishi made the announcement during a press conference on Saturday.

The minister revealed that the file for the cashless medical facility was signed on Friday, and the notification for the scheme will be issued next week, bringing it into effect. The Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) will be responsible for handling the cashless medical facility for DVB employees who retired before April 2002.

Atishi explained that the DVB was unbundled into separate generation, transmission, and distribution companies in 2002. Consequently, the generation companies (PPCL and IGPCL), DTL, and the three distribution companies (discoms) will manage the cashless medical facilities for employees who retired after 2002.

“Retired employees have faced numerous challenges in getting their medical claims reimbursed. With the introduction of this cashless medical facility, the Kejriwal government aims to put an end to these hardships,” Atishi said during the press conference.
