Jammu, June 15, 2024 — In response to a series of recent terror attacks, the Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) R.R. Swain has issued a stern warning to terrorists and their local collaborators. Speaking at an encounter site in Saida village, Kathua, Swain declared that the region is facing an “undeclared war” imposed from across the border and vowed to eliminate the threats to peace and security.

Heightened Security and Stern Warnings

Following four consecutive terror attacks in Jammu province, DGP Swain emphasized that local support for terrorists would not be tolerated. “I want to make it clear that, sooner or later, terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir will be eliminated but those involved in sheltering or providing support to these mercenaries would face exemplary punishment,” Swain asserted. This statement was made after visiting Hiranagar, where security forces recently neutralized two newly infiltrated terrorists.

Swain’s remarks came amidst reports that some locals were providing shelter and logistical support to terrorists involved in recent attacks in Reasi, Doda, and Hiranagar. The DGP highlighted the severe consequences for those aiding terrorists, noting that unlike Pakistani terrorists, local supporters have much to lose, including their families, property, and employment.

A Strategic Shift in Terrorist Activities

Admitting that the focus of Pakistan-based terror mentors has shifted from the Kashmir Valley to the peaceful Jammu region, Swain said, “One thing is clear, it is an undeclared war imposed on us and we are strong enough to face this challenge.” He pointed out that terrorism has become an industry for those across the border, and vowed that Indian forces are prepared for any sacrifices necessary to counteract these threats.

In light of the recent spate of terrorist activities that resulted in the deaths of ten individuals, including nine devotees from Shiv Khouri temple and a CRPF jawan, Swain reiterated the commitment of Indian security forces to crush terrorism. He reported that during an encounter in Hiranagar, two Pakistani terrorists were neutralized and a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was seized.

Government Directives and Enhanced Security Measures

The Centre has instructed security agencies to “augment security arrangements” following the recent attacks, according to a senior official. Swain confirmed that the Union Government has given clear orders to take a tough stance on terrorists and their supporters in Jammu and Kashmir to restore lasting peace in the region.

Swain stressed the importance of community cooperation in combating terrorism, urging citizens to continue providing information to security forces. “Terrorists are not much in numbers, they are cowards having guns in their hands and targeting unarmed innocent people. I appeal to people that the flow of information should continue. Here, we respond to every piece of information, including smaller ones, as we have such orders from the government of India in Delhi,” he said.

A Firm Resolve to Eliminate Terrorism

The DGP assured that security forces would be strengthened and modernized to effectively combat the terrorist threat. “We will strengthen our teams, modernize ourselves, and will kill each of the terrorists,” Swain declared, underscoring the determination of Indian forces to preserve peace and tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir.
