New Delhi, July 12, 2024 — In a dramatic incident at Jaipur Airport, a SpiceJet employee was arrested for slapping a male assistant sub-inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) following a heated altercation over security screening. The confrontation, which took place around 4 am, was captured on CCTV.
Incident Details
CISF officials reported that the altercation began when assistant sub-inspector Giriraj Prasad stopped Anuradha Rani, a SpiceJet employee, for not having valid permission to enter through a specific gate. Rani was accompanying other staff members into the airport when Prasad directed her to undergo screening for airline crew at a nearby entrance. At the time, no female CISF personnel were present to conduct the screening.
Prasad called for a female colleague to complete the security check, but an argument ensued between him and Rani. The dispute escalated quickly, culminating in Rani slapping the assistant sub-inspector, according to Jaipur airport station house officer Ram Lal.
Allegations and Response
In an official statement, a SpiceJet spokesperson claimed that Rani had a valid airport entry pass and alleged that the CISF personnel used inappropriate language towards her. “Our female security staff member, who had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home,” the spokesperson said.
SpiceJet announced that it is taking immediate legal action in response to what it describes as a serious case of sexual harassment against its employee. “We stand firmly by our employee and are committed to providing her with full support,” the spokesperson added.
Legal Proceedings
Following the incident, police have registered a case against Anuradha Rani under sections 121 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 132 (assaulting public servant) of Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Conclusion
The incident at Jaipur Airport underscores the need for thorough investigations and appropriate responses to allegations of misconduct and violence. Both the CISF and SpiceJet have expressed their commitment to ensuring justice and upholding the integrity of their respective protocols.
