Crucial Road Linking NH-8 to New Sectors Set for Completion

Gurgaon — The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has agreed to provide alternative land to an auto parts factory, thereby resolving a long-standing roadblock that has delayed the construction of a crucial road linking NH-8 to new sectors for almost a decade. This development promises to significantly improve connectivity in the area.

Decade-Long Impasse Resolved

The construction of the road, which will provide direct access from NH-8 to Pataudi Road and Sultanpur Lake via sectors 82-89, has been stalled for years due to a 190-meter stretch occupied by a private company’s manufacturing unit. The unit, spread across 1,500 square yards, had approached the high court for resolution, leading the court to urge both parties to find an amicable solution.

Government Approval for Land Exchange

HSVP prepared an exchange proposal offering alternative land, recently approved by the state government. Vikas Dhanda, HSVP Estate Officer-1, confirmed the development, stating, “The exchange proposal has been approved by the government, and we are in the process of completing all necessary legal formalities. This should be finalised within a month, after which the land will be handed over to GMDA for construction of the missing link.”

GMDA to Commence Construction Promptly

The Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has assured that construction will begin promptly once the land is handed over. “The road dividing sectors 88 and 89 is not connected to Pataudi Road because of the acquisition dispute. As soon as we receive possession, we will construct the remaining portion of the 60m-wide road. This will further improve connectivity in new sectors,” a senior GMDA official said.

Resident and Commuter Reactions

Residents and commuters have welcomed the resolution, highlighting the road’s importance for reducing travel time and enhancing access between key sectors and Pataudi Road. Jai Prakash, General Secretary of NBCC Heights RWA in Sector 89, expressed relief, saying, “This road has been lying incomplete for so long. There is a dead end on the road dividing sectors 88 and 89, and we are either forced to drive on an adjoining unpaved stretch to reach Pataudi Road or get stuck in traffic jams at the roundabout near Aarvy Hospital. The unpaved stretch is unmotorable during rains, as the area gets muddy and slippery. We are happy that the issue is finally getting some resolution. Once the road is ready, we will have direct connectivity to NH-8.”

Enhancing Infrastructure and Connectivity

The completion of this road is expected to significantly enhance the infrastructure and connectivity in Gurgaon, facilitating smoother commutes and better access to key areas. The collaborative effort between HSVP, GMDA, and the state government underscores a commitment to resolving infrastructural challenges and improving urban living standards.
