Nuh, July 9, 2024 — Haryana Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has criticized the BJP-led government for its alleged failures over the past decade and promised a series of major reforms and development projects if the Congress returns to power.

Addressing a gathering of party workers in Nuh, Hooda stated that the BJP had created significant issues during its tenure, which would be impossible to resolve in just three months. “The BJP itself has accepted the failure of its schemes. Therefore, the government is taking a U-turn from all its plans, seeing defeat in the Assembly polls. BJP has now lost the right to repent, and the public is now going to punish it by ousting it from power,” he asserted.

Promises and Vision

Hooda assured the public that the Congress government would set the wheels of development in motion once again. He outlined several key initiatives the party plans to implement if elected:

  • Pensions and Social Welfare: Elderly citizens will receive a monthly pension of Rs 6,000, and the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) will be reinstated for employees.
  • Inflation Relief: The government will provide 300 units of free electricity and LPG cylinders at a cost of Rs 500 per cylinder to mitigate the effects of inflation.
  • Employment Generation: Two lakh vacant positions will be filled, and proactive measures will be taken to attract investment and create job opportunities.

Hooda expressed gratitude to the people of the Mewat region for their strong support during the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 and expressed confidence that the Assembly elections would see even greater support for the Congress party.

Development Projects in Mewat

Hooda announced several ambitious projects for the Mewat region, including the construction of a new railway line and the establishment of a new university. He also promised to address the staff shortages in Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College and local schools, which were developed during the previous Congress administration.

Support from Congress Leaders

Hooda was joined by Haryana Congress President Udai Bhan and Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate from Gurgaon, Raj Babbar. Bhan emphasized the past contributions of the Congress party to the development of Mewat and reiterated the party’s commitment to continuing this progress. He highlighted the staff shortages in the medical college, attributing them to the current BJP government’s neglect.

Babbar, who lost the Lok Sabha election to BJP’s Rao Inderjit Singh, thanked the people of Mewat for their support and stated that the Lok Sabha results indicated a strong possibility of a Congress government in Haryana. “When the Congress forms the government, development, brotherhood, and unity of all communities will be strengthened in the state,” he declared.

Conclusion

As the Haryana Legislative Assembly elections approach, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the Congress party are positioning themselves as agents of change, promising significant reforms and development projects to address the issues they attribute to the BJP’s decade-long governance. The upcoming elections will determine if their vision resonates with the voters of Haryana.
