Haryana Health Minister Inaugurates Advanced Neonatal Care Unit in Sohna

Strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Haryana, Health Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta inaugurated a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at the Sohna Civil Hospital via virtual medium on Monday. The unit, built at a cost of ₹41 lakhs, is equipped to treat 14 newborns at a time and features advanced incubators, comprehensive monitoring systems, and specialized treatment areas for critical care.

While dedicating the SNCU, Dr. Kamal Gupta emphasized its crucial role in reducing neonatal mortality rates. The unit is designed to provide intensive care for newborns with severe health conditions such as premature birth, low birth weight, infections, and respiratory issues at birth.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and infrastructure, Dr. Gupta stated that this initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure every child born in the state receives the best possible start in life. He assured that the facility adheres to high medical standards.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Virendra Yadav shared insights about the hospital’s patient load, achievements, and other key aspects during the virtual inauguration. He noted that the SNCU is dedicated to providing special care for newborns requiring intensive medical attention. The unit boasts advanced medical technology and a highly skilled team of neonatologists, nurses, and support staff to ensure the highest standards of care for the most vulnerable patients.

Dr. Yadav mentioned that the unit is equipped with 14 radiant warmers, 4 LED phototherapy units, and 6 pulse oximeters. Additionally, a pediatrician, 9 nursing officers, and 2 medical officers are available 24/7 to provide round-the-clock care for newborns.

The establishment of the SNCU is a significant step towards improving neonatal healthcare in the Sohna region. It aims to reduce infant mortality rates and enhance the quality of care provided to newborns. The facility is expected to play a vital role in addressing critical health issues among newborns and ensuring their well-being.
