Gurgaon Sees Weather Improvement: AQI Drops to 98, No Heavy Rain Expected

Gurgaon, July 9, 2024 — Gurgaon residents welcomed a refreshing change in weather on Monday, with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at a satisfactory 98. The city experienced a clear sky and cooler temperatures, providing much-needed relief from the recent heatwave.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), similar weather conditions are expected in the coming days. The IMD has removed all alerts for significant rain activity over the next six days, indicating stable weather ahead.

Temperature and Humidity

The maximum temperature in Gurgaon saw a notable drop, recorded at 32.1 degrees Celsius, down from Sunday’s 35 degrees. The minimum temperature also decreased slightly to 24.5 degrees Celsius from 25.5 degrees the previous day. The humidity level remained at 77% as of 8:30 am, contributing to the comfortable weather.

IMD Forecast

The IMD has forecasted no heavy downpours for Gurgaon in the upcoming days. The sky is expected to remain overcast until July 14, providing respite from the scorching sun. “There is no warning for heavy rain in Gurgaon for the next five days. There might be scattered rainfall in isolated areas during this period,” an IMD official stated.

The IMD further predicted that the maximum temperature will hover around 35 degrees Celsius until July 14. “After July 13, the clouds may move closer to Delhi-NCR, which could lead to a slight increase in rain activity again,” the official added.

Weather in Delhi

Meanwhile, Delhi has experienced uneven rainfall since the start of the monsoon season. North-west, north Delhi, and New Delhi districts have received large excess rainfall at 129%, 91%, and 69%, respectively. In contrast, west Delhi has seen a significant rain deficit of 99%. On Monday, the maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 25.6 degrees Celsius.

The Met department’s forecast for Delhi suggests very light to light rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, providing brief relief from the summer heat.
