GURGAON: The district election officer and deputy commissioner (DC) Nishant Kumar Yadav announced on Sunday that the maximum expenditure limit for a candidate in the upcoming elections has been set at Rs 40 lakh. In addition to this, candidates are required to maintain a detailed account of their election expenses throughout their campaigns, ensuring transparency and compliance with election regulations.
To participate in the elections, each candidate must also submit a security deposit of Rs 10,000. Candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC) are required to deposit Rs 5,000. DC Yadav confirmed that the election code of conduct has already been enforced following the announcement of the elections.
The nomination process will officially begin on September 5, with candidates from the Pataudi, Gurgaon, Sohna, and Badshahpur Assembly constituencies expected to file their papers at the respective offices of the Electoral Registration Officers (ERO). Nominations will be accepted until September 12, but not on Sunday, September 8. The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for September 13, and candidates will have until 3 PM on September 16 to withdraw their nominations. The allocation of election symbols will take place on the same day for all four constituencies.
This announcement marks the beginning of a crucial phase in the election process, with candidates and their supporters gearing up for the campaign season ahead.
