Fatal Collision on KMP Expressway Claims Four Lives, Authorities Launch Investigation

Gurgaon, July 2, 2024 — In a tragic accident on the KMP Expressway in Farrukhnagar, four people lost their lives and two others sustained severe injuries after a Maruti Ertiga collided with a canter-truck on Monday afternoon. The devastating impact left the car completely shattered, prompting immediate action from bystanders and authorities.

Incident Overview

Witnesses reported that both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the collision occurred. The driver of the Maruti Ertiga attempted to overtake the canter-truck at high speed while the truck was trying to exit the expressway. Unfortunately, the car driver failed to react in time, resulting in a violent crash into the truck’s rear. The car flipped several times before coming to a halt and breaking apart.

Casualties and Injuries

The victims of the crash have been identified as Brijesh Kaushik (52), his wife Sunita (48), his mother Kamla Devi (74), and his sister-in-law Kiran Kaushik (46). All four lost their lives on the spot. The two critically injured passengers were rushed to the government hospital in Sector 10 for immediate medical attention.

Immediate Response

Bystanders at the scene quickly rushed to aid the victims, contacting the police and summoning ambulances. The family from Rajasthan’s Sikar was returning from Garh Ganga after attending the last rites of a relative. They were being followed by other relatives in a separate vehicle, who witnessed the horrific crash.

Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar stated, “A preliminary investigation has revealed that the car driver was attempting to overtake the canter when the collision occurred, causing the car to overturn. The injured are currently undergoing treatment.”

Legal Actions and Investigations

A complaint has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the truck driver, who is currently on the run. The charges include sections 106 (death by negligence), 125A (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 281 (rash driving), and 324 (5) (mischief causing damage to the amount of one lakh rupees or upwards).

Relatives of the victims are demanding justice as authorities continue their investigation into the fatal collision. The police are actively searching for the truck driver and are reviewing security camera footage and eyewitness accounts to piece together the exact sequence of events.

Community and Family Reaction

The tragic accident has left the community in mourning. “It’s heartbreaking to lose family members in such a sudden and violent manner. We are seeking justice and hope the authorities will take swift action against the responsible party,” said a relative of the victims.
