DTCP Cracks Down on Illegal Constructions and Commercial Establishments in Gurugram

Gurugram – The enforcement wing of the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has issued show cause notices to around 100 property owners in DLF 5 for carrying out illegal construction on their 60 square yard plots. These violations occurred after obtaining occupation certificates from the department. Additionally, notices have been issued to homeowners operating illegal commercial establishments on their plots without proper permission from the competent authority.

Investigation and Findings

The action followed a complaint from the area regarding illegal constructions and commercial units in the EWS category plots in DLF 5. A subsequent survey by DTCP officials confirmed the violations across approximately 100 plots.

“We have issued notices to property owners who have made illegal constructions after obtaining occupation certificates. If the responses by plot owners are not found satisfactory then restoration notices will be issued to the owners, and action will be initiated against them,” said Manish Yadav, District Town Planner, Enforcement.

Violations and Consequences

The DTCP enforcement team discovered that several EWS plot owners in DLF 5 had constructed buildings with five to six floors, violating established rules. Some buildings also featured stilt parking areas converted into rooms, which were then rented out for substantial amounts, further breaching regulations.

“Action will be initiated against violators and sealing will be carried out in the near future,” Yadav added.

Demolitions in Unauthorised Colonies

In a separate operation, the DTCP’s enforcement wing conducted large-scale demolitions in two unauthorized colonies in Wazirpur village on Pataudi Road. The demolitions covered 12 acres and included three plinths, 200 meters of boundary wall, and three under-construction shops. Additionally, an illegal colony in Hayatpur village, developed over 2 acres, was also demolished.

“We have asked the people to refrain from buying plots in these illegal colonies as these are liable to face serious action,” Yadav cautioned.

Future Implications

The DTCP’s actions highlight the ongoing efforts to maintain lawful urban development and prevent unauthorized constructions and commercial activities. Property owners and potential buyers are advised to adhere to regulations to avoid legal consequences and financial losses.
