Gurugram, July 12, 2024 — In a shocking incident, a teenager in Gurugram stabbed his friend to death over jealousy stemming from his girlfriend’s conversations with the victim, police reported on Thursday. The tragic event took place in Sector 40 late last night.
Incident Details
The accused teenager lured his friend out of his home under the pretense of drinking beer, only to stab him with a knife and flee the scene. A security guard discovered the 16-year-old victim lying in a pool of blood outside a house and promptly alerted the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police identified the victim as a native of Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, who had been living in Jharsa village, Gurugram, for the past 15 years. The victim worked as a waiter with a tent house.
Rapid Police Response
The police quickly apprehended the 15-year-old accused within hours of the murder in Rewari, recovering the knife used in the crime from his possession. The victim and the accused were friends on Instagram and both resided in Jharsa.
Motive and Investigation
According to ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya, the victim had been friends with a girl for the past year and a half. Recently, the girl began talking to the accused, which sparked jealousy and a grudge in the accused. “When the accused discovered that the girl he was talking to was also communicating with the victim, he became resentful. Harboring this grudge, he planned the murder and bought a knife for ₹150 on Tuesday,” Dahiya explained.
On Wednesday night, the accused invited the victim out on the pretext of drinking beer and subsequently stabbed him to death. The body was handed over to the victim’s family after a post-mortem examination.
Legal Action
An FIR of murder has been registered against the juvenile accused at the Sector 40 police station. “We are questioning the juvenile accused to gather more details about the incident,” the senior police official added.
