The victim, identified as Surya, was reportedly drunk and lying on the roadside near a pavement when the accident occurred.

A case was filed under IPC section 304 (a) (causing death by negligence) based on a complaint lodged by Surya’s wife, Vinitha. Following this, Madhuri was arrested but was subsequently released on station bail.
