Rewari, Haryana (Sarhind Times) – August 6, 2024
In a significant ruling, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sunil Kumar Diwan sentenced four individuals to life imprisonment for the murder of a three-year-old child in Khalilpur village. The court also imposed a fine of ₹1.30 lakh on each of the convicts. A minor involved in the crime received a sentence of ten years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹55,000.
The heinous crime dates back to June 2021, when five assailants on two motorcycles attacked Bharti’s family. The attackers shot Bharti’s three-year-old son, Bhavya, who was playing in front of their house, and her husband, Praveen Kumar, who was outside the house. Praveen, critically injured, managed to reach home covered in blood. Both father and son were rushed to a trauma center in Rewari, where Bhavya succumbed to his injuries.
The assailants, holding a grudge against Praveen, executed the attack with precision. Praveen sustained two gunshot wounds, while one bullet pierced Bhavya’s heart, leading to his death. The convicted individuals were identified as Naveen alias Kainchi, Harish alias Baman, Paramjeet alias Susu, Yaman alias Bainya, and a minor. Based on witness testimonies and evidence, Judge Diwan found all five accused guilty.
Naveen, Harish, Paramjeet, and Yaman received life imprisonment, while the minor was sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and fined. The court’s verdict brings a semblance of justice to the grieving family.
The tragic incident had shaken the local community, highlighting the severity of personal vendettas and their devastating consequences. The court’s ruling aims to serve as a deterrent against such violent acts, reinforcing the importance of justice and law.
