Truck Crash on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Leaves Two Dead

Gurgaon, July 5, 2024 – In a tragic accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, two individuals lost their lives after their canter truck collided with another truck. The incident occurred on Wednesday, near the Kalinjar Toll Plaza, when the canter truck hit a wrongly parked truck from behind.

Details of the Incident

The deceased have been identified as Sunil Mehla (36) from Sonipat and his friend and co-driver Vinod Kumar (33) from Karnal. According to the police, Sunil was driving the truck from Mumbai to Delhi while Vinod was seated next to him. The crash happened approximately two kilometers before the Kalinjar Toll Plaza.

Nuh Sadar inspector Chandrabhan stated, “The driver had parked the truck on the edge of the road without an indicator, in a no-parking area.” The lack of proper signaling in the no-parking zone led to the fatal collision.

Immediate Response

Alerted by passersby, a police team quickly arrived at the accident site. The two injured individuals were transported to a government hospital in Nuh, where they were declared dead on arrival.

Legal Action

Based on the complaint filed by Sunil’s brother, Sonu Mehla (35), from Sonipat, Nuh Sadar police have registered a case of a fatal accident. The complaint alleges that the accident resulted from the negligence of the parked truck’s driver. The accused driver is currently absconding.

The police have registered a case under the following sections:

  • Section 304A: Causing death by negligence
  • Section 283: Danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation
  • Section 427: Mischief causing damage to the amount of one lakh rupees or upwards
