Gurgaon, July 3, 2024 — Tragedy struck Gurgaon over the weekend as two men lost their lives in separate road accidents on the service lane of NH-48. The incidents occurred on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in a somber atmosphere in the affected communities.
Sunday’s Accident
On Sunday, around 5:45 pm, Amar Singh, a native of Mainpuri, was returning to his accommodation in Narsinghpur village on his bicycle after completing his duty. As he was cycling near the Sunbeam gate on the NH-48 service lane, a speeding truck rammed into him, causing fatal injuries. Eyewitnesses immediately called the police and identified the truck’s registration number as HR55T8137.
Upon receiving the distressing news, Amar Singh’s wife, Ramlali, rushed to the accident site and discovered that her husband had succumbed to his injuries. She lodged an FIR with the Sector 37 police station. The truck driver, identified as Amar, was taken into custody along with the truck. “The driver will join the investigation after the autopsy,” said the police.
Saturday’s Accident
In a separate incident on Saturday night, 24-year-old Gaurav lost his life in an accident on the service lane near Hero Honda Chowk. Gaurav lived in rented accommodation in the Narsinghpur area with his father, Tejbir Singh, who was in Gujarat at the time of the accident. After returning, Tejbir Singh lodged a police complaint with the Sector 37 police station on Monday.
According to the police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar, a person who took Gaurav to the hospital informed the police. Initially taken to Artemis Hospital in Sector 51, Gaurav was later referred to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead. No vehicle was found near his body, leading to suspicions that he might have been walking when an unidentified vehicle hit him. An investigation is underway.
Legal Proceedings
Both Amar, the truck driver involved in Sunday’s accident, and the unidentified driver from Saturday’s incident have been booked under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (death by negligence) of the IPC. The investigations continue as the police seek to determine the full circumstances surrounding both accidents.
These tragic incidents highlight the need for increased vigilance and adherence to road safety measures on the NH-48 service lanes. The community mourns the loss of Amar Singh and Gaurav, and authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
