Gurgaon, July 2, 2024 — In a significant administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, the Haryana government has transferred 23 Indian Police Services (IPS) officers and 27 Haryana Police Service officers. This major reshuffle, carried out by the Nayab Singh Saini government, aims to strengthen the state’s police administration.
Key Appointments
Among the notable transfers, IPS officer Nazneen Bhasin has been appointed as the joint commissioner of police for Gurugram, a position that had been vacant. Bhasin, a 2007 batch officer, was previously serving as the deputy inspector general of police at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC) in Bhondsi and had additional charge as DIG (women safety) at the police headquarters in Panchkula.
This appointment marks Bhasin’s return to Gurugram, where she previously served as the deputy commissioner of police (east) from 2012 to 2014. She has also held positions as the superintendent of police in Rewari and Nuh and led the special task force (STF) in Gurugram. During her tenure as the Nuh SP, Bhasin successfully apprehended several notorious criminals, including Mushtak Khan, who was wanted for shooting two policemen.
Additional Transfers
The reshuffle also includes the transfer of 2015 batch IPS officer Narender Bijarniya, who has been appointed as the deputy commissioner of police (crime) and SP STF, Gurugram. Bijarniya replaces Vijay Pratap, who has been posted as the Nuh SP.
Bijarniya was previously the SP of Bhiwani, Rajasthan, during the communal riots in Nuh, Haryana, in August 2023. His efforts in maintaining peace in Nuh, through numerous meetings with Hindu and Muslim groups, were instrumental in ensuring harmony in the district.
Administrative Changes
The transfer orders, shared late on Wednesday, reflect the state’s strategy to strengthen its police force in anticipation of the assembly polls scheduled later this year. The reshuffle is the first major reorganization of the police department under the Saini government.
Impact and Expectations
The appointments of experienced officers like Nazneen Bhasin and Narender Bijarniya are expected to bolster the law enforcement framework in Gurugram and other key areas. The reshuffle aims to address critical positions and ensure that the state’s police force is well-prepared for the upcoming electoral process and any associated challenges.
Residents and officials alike are optimistic about the impact of these changes on the overall security and administrative efficiency in Haryana. The state government continues to emphasize its commitment to maintaining law and order and improving public safety through strategic administrative decisions.
