Gurgaon, July 2, 2024 — The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCM) has issued challans to five residential societies and the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has fined 21 violators on Monday for non-compliance with solid waste management rules. This action is part of a larger initiative to improve waste management and sanitation in the city.
Residential Societies Fined for Improper Waste Disposal
In a recent survey conducted by the MCM in new sectors, several residential societies were found to be non-compliant with waste management protocols. The societies identified were Signature Rosalia, Vatika Enviro, Vardhman Flora, Avenue, and Ananda Society. These societies were found to have left the dirty water from bulk waste generators (BWG) and sewage treatment plants (STP) untreated.
A senior MCM official stated that a total of Rs 3.2 lakh in fines have been issued to these five societies. The societies were also warned that further action would be taken in case of continued non-compliance and improper disposal of waste.
According to orders from MCM Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, the Swachhta Branch inspected these societies. Under the supervision of Mahavir Singh Sodhi, a challan of Rs 1.2 lakh was issued to Signature Rosalia Society in Sector 95. The society management was instructed to properly dispose of their garbage. The remaining four societies were each fined Rs 50,000 during the STP inspection.
MCG’s Cleanliness Campaign and Action Against Violators
The MCG is actively running a special cleanliness campaign under the Solid Waste Environment Exigency Programme (SWEEP). This program targets those who dispose of garbage in the open, with the aim of maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across the city.
During inspections on Monday across all four zones, the corporation teams identified 21 individuals who were illegally dumping garbage in open areas. On-the-spot challans totaling Rs 10,500 were issued to these violators. Breakdown of the fines is as follows:
- Zone-1 team imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on four individuals.
- Zone-2 team imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 on eight individuals.
- Zone-3 team imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 on five individuals.
- Zone-4 team imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on four individuals.
An MCG official emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal and the city’s commitment to maintaining a clean environment. “We are taking strict actions against those who violate waste management rules. Our goal is to ensure a cleaner and healthier Gurgaon for all residents.”
Moving Forward
Both the MCM and MCG are determined to enforce strict compliance with solid waste management regulations. Residents and management committees of residential societies are urged to adhere to these rules to avoid penalties and contribute to a cleaner environment.
