Metro Line from Millennium City to Cyber City: DDC Application Received

Estimated read time 3 min read

Gurugram – A company has applied for the role of Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for the construction of the metro line from Millennium City Centre Metro Station to Cyber City. The tender for the DDC was opened by Gurugram Metro Rail on June 6, and the financial bid will soon be evaluated to ensure it falls within the budget estimates. The final decision on whether to award the contract to the single applicant will be made by the government.

Project Background and Current Status

Previously, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) was handling the metro project in the city, issuing tenders twice for a DDC but failing to find a suitable agency. Consequently, the Gurugram Metro Rail Company was established in March-April to take over the project. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited subsequently issued a new tender for a DDC. According to a metro official, only one company, SYSTRA, has applied this time, following the third tender issuance on June 6.

The selected agency will be responsible for creating the structural design for the construction. The financial bid will be scrutinized to ensure it fits within the budget, and the proposal will be sent to Chandigarh for approval. The government will make the final decision if only one agency has applied.

Potential Delays and Future Steps

Any delay in appointing the DDC will impact the preparation of detailed designs and the civil construction bidding process, inevitably causing project delays. A general consultant for the project is also yet to be appointed, with its tender scheduled to open in July. The DDC will handle the civil, architectural, and E&M works for the 27-station elevated section (28.5 km) of the metro line, including layout plans for all 27 elevated stations, foot overbridges, culverts, etc.

Hero Honda Chowk Interchange

There is a possibility of constructing an interchange at Hero Honda Chowk for the Gurugram Metro and Delhi-Dharuhera (RRTS) line. The 72-km long Delhi-Gurugram-Dharuhera (RRTS) project is underway separately. Bids have also been invited for the appointment of a General Consultant for the Gurugram Metro line to assist with design, supervision, safety, quality control, and contract management. The tenders and technical bids for this are set to open on July 1.

Planned Stations

The metro expansion will extend from Millennium City Metro Station to the following stations: Sector-45, Cyber Park, Sector-47, Subhash Chowk, Sector-48, Sector-72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase-6, Sector-10, Sector-37, Basai Village, Sector-9, Sector-7, Sector-4, Sector-5, Ashok Vihar, Sector-3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector-23A, Sector-22, Udyog Vihar Phase-4, Udyog Vihar Phase-5, Cyber City to Dwarka Expressway (Sector 101).
