Gurugram. The construction of Shri Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College and Hospital in Gurugram is set to be completed by March 2025. Located in Kherki Majra, Sector 102, the medical college and hospital have already seen 47.50% of the work completed. The structural framework for the academic block, teaching hospital, and trauma center is already in place. The remaining work is being expedited to meet the new deadline.
The construction project commenced on April 1, 2022, with an initial target completion date of July 31, 2024. However, due to delays, the final deadline has been extended to March 31, 2025. The project was announced on June 29, 2017, by the then Chief Minister.
Officials from GMDA (Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority) assert that once the building construction and other necessary works are completed, the medical college and hospital will be operational. This facility will benefit not only the residents of Gurugram but also those from the southern districts of Haryana.
Currently, Gurugram has only one district civil hospital, which lacks adequate medical facilities, forcing residents to rely on expensive private hospitals. With a population of 3 million, the city desperately needs more government healthcare facilities.
