GURGAON: A van driver sustained severe injuries after his vehicle collided with a container truck on the KMP Expressway near Pataudi toll on Sunday morning. The impact left the driver trapped in the mangled cabin of the van for over half an hour before emergency responders from the fire department arrived at the scene.
The rescue operation, led by the IMT Manesar fire station staff, involved the use of a crane to separate the two vehicles. The driver was eventually extricated from the wreckage and rushed to the Civil Hospital in Gurgaon. His condition is reported to be critical.
The accident occurred around 11 AM when the van, carrying milk packets from Gurgaon to Palwal, rammed into the back of the container truck. The high-speed collision caused the cabin of the van to become wedged into the rear of the truck, severely damaging the vehicle.
Lalit Kumar, a fire officer from Manesar, explained, “The driver of the van suffered serious injuries and was stuck in the mangled cabin. We received a rescue call at 11 AM from passersby. Our team reached the spot with spreading tools and conducted the rescue operation. A crane was used to pull the two vehicles apart.”
Police teams also responded to the incident and worked alongside fire department officials to rescue the driver. Sub-Inspector Lokpal stated, “We have no further details about the man at this moment.” No case has been registered by the police regarding the accident.
This incident marks the latest in a series of accidents on the KMP Expressway. So far this year, six people have lost their lives in two separate road accidents on this expressway in Gurgaon.
