Anupgarh, Rajasthan, August 11, 2024:
In a significant incident on the India-Pakistan border, a drone believed to be controlled by Pakistani smugglers lost control and crashed into a field in Anupgarh district, Rajasthan. The drone was found carrying a large packet containing 3 kilograms of heroin, with an estimated value of ₹15 crore in the international market.

According to high-ranking officials from the Anupgarh district police, the incident occurred near the Vijeta Border Outpost (BOP) of the Border Security Force (BSF). The drone, which was apparently on a mission to drop the heroin packet in the Indian territory, either went out of the smugglers’ control or lost network connectivity, leading to its crash in a field owned by a local farmer, Kalu Ram.

Kalu Ram, who was sleeping in his field in Chak 29-APD, woke up to the sound of something falling around 3:45 AM. Upon investigating, he discovered the drone lying in his field, with a large yellow packet attached to it. Realizing the potential seriousness of the situation, he immediately informed the BSF.

Upon receiving the information, BSF personnel quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area. The packet was examined, revealing that it contained 3 kilograms of heroin. The BSF has launched an investigation into the incident and is coordinating with local law enforcement to trace the origins of the drone and identify the network of smugglers involved.

A police officer stated that the drone may have either gone out of the smugglers’ control or crashed due to a network failure. The situation highlights the ongoing attempts by cross-border smugglers to use drones for illicit activities and the vigilance required to prevent such breaches.

This incident underscores the continuing challenges faced by security forces along the India-Pakistan border in combating drug smuggling. The BSF and local police are on high alert, and further investigations are underway to unravel the full details of the smuggling operation.
