Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Praises Troops During Visit to LoC in Kupwara

Kupwara, July 25, 2024 – Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district on Thursday, where he interacted with troops and officers deployed at the forward posts. His visit comes in the wake of recent operations that resulted in the elimination of six terrorists in three separate gunfights.

Security Review and Interaction: During his visit, General Dwivedi reviewed the security situation along the LoC and lauded the troops for their professionalism and dedication. “GeneralUpendraDwivedi #COAS, visited the forward locations of #ChinarCorps & reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control #LOC. Second Visit in Six Days: This marks the army chief’s second visit to the Union Territory (UT) within six days, amidst a series of attacks in the region. Last Saturday, General Dwivedi reviewed the security scenario in a joint meeting with police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies in Jammu.

Recent Operations: In the past month, the army and police have successfully neutralized six terrorists in Kupwara, including five heavily armed infiltrators in the Keran sector. An ongoing operation in Lolab forests, during which a terrorist and a soldier were killed on Wednesday, is still in progress.

Casualties in 2024: This year, 28 terrorists and three defense personnel have died in separate gunfights in Kashmir. In Jammu, 28 people, including 12 security personnel and five terrorists, have been killed in terror strikes and gunfights.

Upcoming Event: Following his visit to Kupwara, General Dwivedi is scheduled to attend an event in Kargil to mark Kargil Diwas, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers during the Kargil War.
