Gurugram – Hundreds of residents of Malibu Towne, led by the Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha Trust, have been persistently requesting the Haryana Government to allot a designated religious site within their township for the construction of a temple. Despite years of appeals, their requests have not been met, leading to frustration and renewed calls for action.
Background of the Issue
The religious site in question measures 950 square yards and was developed by Malibu Estate Pvt. Ltd. according to norms laid down by the Haryana Government in 1997. Residents, represented by the Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha Trust, have been advocating for the allotment of this site since 2017. In June 2018, the then Estate Officer informed the residents that the Senior Town Planner had taken possession of the site from Malibu Estate Pvt. Ltd. However, despite numerous representations to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and the Senior Town Planner’s office, no progress has been made.
Continuous Efforts and Appeals
Mahender Kumar Naresh, president of the Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha Trust, highlighted the residents’ ongoing efforts. “We started taking up the matter in 2017. Despite numerous representations to HUDA and the Senior Town Planner’s office, no progress was made,” he said.
The Trust has also submitted grievance letters to the CM Window in May 2018, June 2019, and January 2020, but these were filed without any resolution. Residents have contacted local authorities, including the senior town planner, HUDA administrator, and estate officer-II, in 2021, 2022, and 2023, without success.
Urgent Request Before Elections
Prem Popli, vice president of the Trust, emphasized the urgency of their request. “We have met the chief minister several times and have requested him personally to look into the matter and allot the land before the upcoming legislative assembly elections. Otherwise, the issue will remain unresolved for years due to the election code of conduct,” he said.
Government’s Response
In response, Gurugram deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav stated that they would look into the issue and try to resolve it for the residents. The residents of Malibu Towne hope that their long-standing demand will finally be addressed, allowing them to construct the much-needed temple within their community.
