Dehradun and Other Districts Expect Heavy Rain, Multiple Roads Closed

Heavy Rain Forecast for Uttarakhand: Dehradun, Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar, Champawat on Alert

The weather department has issued a forecast for heavy rain in parts of Uttarakhand today. According to the latest update, Dehradun, Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar, and Champawat districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning. Light to moderate rain is expected in most districts of the Kumaon and Garhwal regions. Dehradun will witness partly cloudy skies with the possibility of light to moderate rain, and some areas may see heavy downpours.

On Thursday, Dehradun experienced sunny weather leading to humidity, with the maximum temperature recorded at 35.2°C and the minimum at 24°C. Pantnagar saw a maximum temperature of 35.1°C, while Mukteshwar recorded 25°C and New Tehri 27.4°C.

79 Roads Closed, 84 Reopened

In Uttarakhand, the Public Works Department (PWD) reported that 79 roads were closed on Wednesday. On the previous day, Tuesday, 126 roads were also closed. In total, 205 roads were shut down over the two days. However, the PWD has managed to reopen 84 of these routes on Wednesday, providing some relief.

Out of the remaining 121 closed roads, 5 are state highways, 6 are main district roads, 4 are other district roads, and 106 are rural roads. To clear these blocked roads, the PWD has deployed 5 machines on state highways, 6 on main district roads, 4 on other district roads, and 87 machines on rural roads.

Residents and travelers in the affected districts are advised to remain cautious and updated with the latest weather reports. Efforts are ongoing to ensure that all closed roads are reopened as quickly as possible.
