Unnao, UP, 10 July 2024 – In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, at least 18 people lost their lives and 19 others sustained injuries following a collision between a double-decker bus and a milk tanker on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway under the Behtamujawar police station area in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The accident occurred at approximately 5:15 am.
The double-decker bus, traveling from Motihari, Bihar to Delhi, collided with the milk tanker, resulting in the devastating accident. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and emergency services promptly arrived at the scene. They extricated the injured and transported them to CHC Bangarmau for urgent medical treatment.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed officials to expedite relief efforts. “Today at around 05:15 AM, a private bus coming from Motihari, Bihar collided with a milk tanker. 18 people have lost their lives and 19 others are injured in the accident. After the initial investigation, it looks like the bus was overspeeding. The injured are getting treatment,” stated Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to reach the scene promptly and accelerate the relief operations. The police have confirmed that necessary actions are being taken following the incident.
This tragic accident has left the community in shock and mourning.
