Youth Beaten to Death by Lover’s Relatives in Rewari: Case Registered

Rewari, 10 July 2024 – A 21-year-old youth from Rajasthan was brutally beaten to death by the relatives of his lover in Cheeta Dungra, Rewari, on Monday night. The tragic incident occurred when Mohit, a resident of Giglana village in Alwar, visited his lover outside her home. The police, upon receiving information about the incident, took custody of the body and initiated legal proceedings.

According to the complaint filed by Mohit’s family, a case has been registered against the woman’s relatives. Mohit was in a relationship with a woman from Cheeta Dungra, and on the night of the incident, he was with her outside her home when her grandparents discovered their presence. The grandmother raised the alarm, prompting the woman’s uncle and other relatives to arrive at the scene. They caught Mohit and brutally thrashed him with sticks and rods before informing his relatives about the situation.

Mukesh, the victim’s father, recounted the events, saying, “They called us and said Mohit was with them and we should go there to bring him back. They also said he misbehaved with their daughter and brainwashed her. We then rushed to get Mohit from Cheeta Dungra. My brother and I reached there to find Mohit in critical condition. We rushed him to the hospital on our bike where the doctors referred him to Rewari. The doctors in Rewari declared him dead on arrival.” The body was subsequently sent to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination. On Tuesday, the body was handed over to the relatives after the autopsy.

Dinesh, Mohit’s uncle, claimed they were informed about the couple’s consensual relationship through his friends. Mohit’s relatives alleged that the severe beating led to his death. Mohit, the eldest among three siblings, was a young man with a promising future ahead.

Mahipal, the in-charge of the Kund police post, stated, “The boy’s death was caused by the assault prima facie. Autopsy reports will confirm the exact reason.” The police are continuing their investigation to ensure that justice is served.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning, highlighting the severe consequences of violent reactions to personal relationships. The authorities are urging for calm and adherence to the law as they proceed with the case.
