Gurgaon: Construction Company Manager Killed in Party Altercation

Gurgaon, 10 July 2024 – In a shocking incident, Bhup Singh, a 35-year-old manager at Sobha Limited, a construction company, was killed after being struck on the head with a cricket bat by a neighbor’s employee during a party at New Palam Vihar Phase-2 early Tuesday morning. The accused, Anish, who drives a goods carrier van, has been arrested.

According to the police, Bhup Singh was a resident of New Palam Vihar Phase-2. Inspector Ashok Kumar of Bajghera police station stated, “On Monday night, Bhup attended a small party at his neighbor Pradeep’s house. Pradeep is a businessman, and a few of his friends, along with his employee Anish, were also present at the party.”

As the night progressed and alcohol was consumed, an incident occurred that led to tragedy. Pradeep, along with a few others, decided to go out on personal work. Anish, under the influence of alcohol, asked his employer not to go out, which led to an irked Bhup telling Anish to behave within his limits. This comment enraged Anish, who then picked up a cricket bat lying nearby and attacked Bhup on the head.

Bhup sustained a severe head injury and collapsed on the spot. Neighbors immediately alerted his wife, and Anish fled the scene after the assault. Bhup’s wife, with the help of neighbors, rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. “A police team reached the hospital and sent the body for autopsy. A forensic team was dispatched to the crime scene, and the victim’s brother lodged a complaint,” said Gurgaon police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar.

Based on the complaint by Bhup’s brother, Sateesh, who alleged that Anish could have been acting on instructions from other individuals to kill his brother, a case was registered under BNS sections 103 (1) (murder), 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy), and 3 (5) (common intention). “We arrested Anish from Bajghera on Tuesday and recovered the cricket bat. The accused will be produced before the court,” the spokesperson added.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock, highlighting the dangers of alcohol-fueled altercations and the need for responsible behavior during social gatherings. The police are continuing their investigation to determine if there were any other motives or conspiracies involved in this heinous act.
