30 Kg of Prohibited Meat Seized in Sirsa: Police Arrest One, Search for Accomplice

Sirsa, July 9, 2024 — In a significant operation, the Chhopta Police have arrested a municipal employee of the Sirsa Nagar Parishad for smuggling 30 kilograms of prohibited meat. The accused, Babulal, was apprehended while his accomplice managed to escape. The meat was found packed in one-kilogram packets and seized for further investigation.

The Operation

According to the police, the incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon when Surendra Puniya, the Bajrang Dal Haryana Prant Milan Kendra chief, received information about two individuals transporting meat of prohibited animals on a motorcycle towards Chhopta. Acting on this tip-off, Puniya alerted the Chhopta Police, who quickly mobilized to intercept the suspects.

Chase and Arrest

The police and Puniya reached the Baruwali Dvitiya canal where they spotted two men on a motorcycle approaching from the direction of village Fefana. Upon noticing the police, the two men abandoned their bike and fled towards the fields. The police gave chase and managed to apprehend the rider, identified as Babulal, a resident of Ward 3 in the New Housing Board Colony, Sirsa. His accomplice, however, successfully evaded capture.

Seizure and Investigation

A search of the motorcycle revealed a bag containing 30 kilograms of meat, packed in individual one-kilogram packets. The police have sent the meat to a lab to determine the species of the animal. Babulal confessed during interrogation that he works as a casual sanitation worker for the Sirsa Nagar Parishad and engages in this illegal activity once a week, earning approximately five thousand rupees each time.

Legal Action

Following the confession, the police arrested Babulal and filed an FIR under the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act based on the complaint lodged by Surendra Puniya. The authorities are actively searching for the escaped accomplice.
