GURGAON: In a chilling discovery, a 25-year-old man was found strangled and his body stuffed in a plastic drum at a greenbelt near IMT Manesar on Saturday evening. The gruesome find was made by workers who were clearing bushes in the area, triggering an immediate police response.
The body was discovered around 4:30 PM when security staff from an automobile company in Sector 8, IMT Manesar, hired two migrant workers, Mohit from Amethi and Nand Kishore from Bihar, to prune trees and clear waste near gate no. 1 of their company, close to Aliyar Chowk. While working in the greenbelt, the workers noticed a foul odor coming from a blue plastic drum found in a stormwater drain adjacent to the greenbelt.
Alarmed by the smell, they alerted the security guard, who then informed the police. Upon arrival, the police retrieved the drum and discovered the body of a man inside, wrapped in cloth. An electric wire was found tightly wound around the victim’s neck, indicating that he had been strangled.
Sub-Inspector Ishwer Singh of IMT Manesar police station stated, “When we opened the lid of the drum, the body of a man was found wrapped in a cloth in it. An electric wire was tightly wrapped around his neck.”
Following the discovery, a case was registered on Saturday night under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to screen offender) based on a complaint from Sohan Singh, the security in-charge at the automobile company.
The investigation is ongoing as the police work to identify the victim and the perpetrators behind this heinous crime.
